Cost of upvc double glazing

If anyone has had double glazing installed recently, I'd be interested to know how much you paid and for what. Trying to get a rough idea how much it could be before I get quotes for my Mum). Obviously I realise everyone has different requirements.

It depends on the size, but if you use a decent local company you should be paying something in the region of £400 to £500 per window.

4 large windows, back door, patio doors and a garage door cost nearly £6k last year with a local company.
Patio and garage door were bespoke as they were made to fit the gaps.
Had a quote from a big company and they started at £12k. Couldn't get rid of them.

Yes, I've heard about pressurised selling in double glazing. I'll be making it clear that I need to sort an annuity withdrawal for my Mum before signs anything.

Hi OP. Are you asking about re glazing existing frames or frame and glass all new? How many and what size? Bungalow? Flat, detached? Era /age of property. All will make a difference.
Also you potentially need to budget for removal and waste. Skip? Scaffold?

Pressure selling, over Inflated prices and fake discounts are common with a lot of the big names. Find yourself a decent local company who’ll give you an honest price, and then leave you to get in touch with them if you want to go ahead.

For ordinary windows, yes. My sliding sashes were more like £1500 per window!

Windows vary in quality, good installation costs, what type of doors, front doors, flush sash style, french doors, sliding doors... some frame construction is not as good and type of glass can add to costs too. We went to a manufacturer to get a feel.for just the frame costs, then we went to companies to get full quotes, samples, check out who they used to make the windows and also get reviews on the quality of installation (which can include lintels, replacement brickwork, making good). Our company also does all work without any payment up front, as they believe in the customer paying when happy with everything. Don't be pressurised and shop around but difficult to compare costs without the product being identical.

It's for a detached bungalow, easy access all round. Five windows, two doors with glass side panel and a patio door. Frame and glass.

I know everyone has different requirements, but just trying to get an idea of what some things are likely to cost, so I can work out if she's getting a fair quote. She's not one for getting say three quotes in.
