Get rid of the bath?

We have decided to replace our bathroom as ours is now looking a bit old / dated and tatty. We currently have a shower over the bath. We are currently leaning towards getting rid of the bath altogether and having a walk in shower. My partner hasn’t had a bath since childhood. I haven’t had a bath in 6 years and the kids have grown out of baths and have had showers for the last 4 years. We are not too worried about reducing house price as this is our forever home. Has anyone else got rid of their bath and regretted it later?

I don’t understand why people prefer showers. Sometimes nothing beats having a long relaxing soak in a hot bath, rather than having to stand in a shower. Each to their own own I guess.

In any case just do what works for you whilst you live there.

I love baths and I bought a house without a bath. It didn’t put us off as the house was otherwise perfect. It just meant we factored the cost of getting a bath fitted into our calculations.

We got rid of ours and haven’t missed it at all. A decent walk in shower is so much more practical day to day, especially for cleaning and space.. Only thing I’d consider is future resale, but if it’s a long term home and you never use a bath anyway, I’d go for what suits your lifestyle now 🙂

We removed the bath years ago and have a walk in shower. Never once have we regretted this decision. I hated stepping into the bath to shower and we wouldn't have room for a walk in shower plus a bath. Who looks at buying houses with a priority of 'must have a bath' anyway.

We took our bath out and had a full wet room with a rain & wand shower plus a seated area, so if you or a guest don't want to stand you can still wash sat down. That was 16 years ago and never regretted it.
