We are interested in leasing a shop. Does anybody know what planning you need to sell hot pies. The rest of the shop will be retail bakery ie bread, cakes etc which is all cold.
TIA

Contact your District council

Hi LL
Have done that but they are most unhelpful and unable to provide advise unless you have definate plans etc... I am just wondering as we are still thinking about what to do, not 100% sure so they refuse to comment.

The shop will have a classification

If it isn't the right one you will need to apply for change of use

What is it at the moment ? I think take away food has a specific classification. There is a shop in our village which has been repeatedly denied consent to sell hot food, now standing empty. fodun this for one area which may at least help you through the process.

Hi Lizs
Had a look at that.
Not sure if it's relevant. We want to sell 90% bread cakes etc. This would be fine under a class 1 planning consent for a general retail shop. But if we sold a few cornish pasties/sausage rolls etc.. heated up in the microwave, does that make it a hot take away.
I don't mean we will be running a chip shop or similar.
Also only open normal business hours, not late nights etc..
Anybody any ideas? Sorry to be so vague!!
