We had a hand me down play set which served the dd well but it's now had its day.
Can anyone recommend anything that suits children age 10+ who are over 5 ft talk themselves?
I can't see much that is suitable for older kids (who still want to climb etc outside, ).

You can get adult swings but they're expensive, I'd look into them for my eldest son who has sen.

I've also seen things like dip bars and balance bars, made from very sturdy wood and metal.

Looking at Sen businesses or adult outdoor exercise etc may give you more options/results to consider.

There is definitely less options as they get bigger which is a real shame so I'm watching with interest.

These two I'd screenshot when I was looking. Not sure how high you'd like the frames to be but I'm assuming at least a bit taller than your eldest.

Your area may have a bespoke climbing frame company? We’re getting one made that has a swing, a slide, monkey bars, climbing wall, balance beam and it will all be big and strong enough for adults as well.

Look at growplay climbing frames, they can be adapted to your needs, loads of accessories and bits added as kids grow and are fine for adults to use. I have one which teenagers and myself use.

Yes these are great too i have one i got second hand to put up in front garden.

I realise this seems extravagant as I have the growplay set in back garden. But I have a with complex needs including massive sensory issues and he is home full time, included educationed by the local authority at home so he doesnt have opportunities other children would in terms of school play equipment and even visiting parks at times.

@Madthings yes I think a lot of us with Sen kids have way more play equipment at home than normal - no chance of my 9 year old going to a busy playground so we have basically turned our garden into one!

Madthings · 22/02/2026 13:15

@SoManyFidgetToys yes! My living room has a climbing ladder, sensory swing with variety of attachments etc. My son is also 9 and cant go to a busy park.

If my sons needs are not met none of us can function so we have adapted our home. As it several of my children have needs, though the others are not at profound as my youngest and the equipment we have can be used by all including adults. So we all benefit from it. I do realise that it probably looks very extravagant/ bit riddiculous to others.

@Madthings hah yes my house looks insane! Just full of indoor swing, and spinning chair, and big exercise balls and omg fidget toys everywhere
