Parquet floor help

We renovated our house last year and got oiled oak flooring.

I‘ve only mopped a handful of times because I know it’s not good for the floor. But we have 2 cats so it is unavoidable.

When I mop, I use very hot water and wring out the mop as best as I can. But it still leaves streaks. What am I doing wrong?

My only regret is getting the floor in the kitchen too. It looks extremely dull already, and DH has spilled god knows what on the floor so there are a few dark stains too. Is there a product that might help? I really don’t want to have to get it re-oiled already!

Use Osmo or Bona oiled floor cleaner. Although have to say the Bona version did make my floor very slippery so be careful in socks!

Needs sanding back and re-oiling. Not much else you can really do. Hardwood floors are high upkeep so it will need regular oiling once or twice per year. I assume you're using proper wood floor cleaner when you mop?

Sounds like you have chosen the wrong surface type for your requirements.

I don't know whether it is possible, but maybe consider changing the surface for something else, maybe lacquer ? It may cost some in the short term but will be cheaper than constantly re-oiling.

I wouldn't have wood flooring in the kitchen or bathroom, so not sure what the solution is there.
