Anyone have a downstairs shower in their toilet + utility?

Currently beginning to work with builders on a downstairs extension - bigger dining space in our kitchen, utility (labelled kitchen 2) and a toilet. HOWEVER the builder has suggested we add in a downstairs shower. Especially as upstairs, we only have a shower in the ensuite. Our family bathroom is in the eaves so we only have a bath.

I can't decide if it's genius, OR am I going to hate having guests use that loo because of the shower? Is it going to be too cramped? I previously had planned for a bigger utility, so it would take storage space away.

I have a loo/shower in my utility. Have a bathroom and en-suite too but having teens in the house the more showers the better IMO. Guests tend to use it too rather than the en-suite shower (don’t have one in the main bathroom)

Same situation here - do you have any pictures?

We used to have a loo/shower downstairs. Occasionally useful but I've found I just like having just a small loo as it's easier to keep presentable. I would always opt for a larger utility as I use it everyday.

A shower in a utility room is dangerous
steam and sockets
It won’t pass building regs

What are the dimensions of the grd fl shower room. I see ft2 only

We had a similar set up with utility off the kitchen/diner/family room and then WC off the utility. About five years ago we took a bit off the utility to extend the WC into a bathroom with shower over the bath (was originally going to have a shower cubicle but the bath was more practical for our toddlers/babies at the time). I've never worried about guests using it because it's a bathroom and not just a WC, my main worry is always that with three young kids my utility room is always full of laundry that people need to walk through

We have a shower and downstairs loo off the utility. No comments made by our guests and it is ideal for showering the dogs!

That's why we put one in the dogs loved it. That and the boys would come in the back door after a rugby match covered in mud, they went straight in the shower, kit straight into the washing machine.

Upstairs we had a shower en suite and a family bathroom with no shower so it was useful.

I have a downstairs shower - as with other PP it's very good as an outdoor sports shower. Come in dump your stuff and get clean without traipsing dirt upstairs.

I also have a downstairs shower, only gets used by us when the main bathroom is out of action but I use it to shower or fostered Labrador all the time and it’s very handy for keeping the cat litter trays in too! Best things ever, and maybe not necessarily for its intended use!

This is the reason I am having one installed now - dump muddy kit/ person without having to to traipse upstairs.
