Aporoximate cost of moving staircase

This may well be asking "how long is a piece of string?" But does anyone have a ballpark incremental cost associated with moving a staircase from the ground to the first floor in a semi detached house, half a meter to the side and front? I am trying to design a side extension room and will not get sufficient space for a small double room there unless I move the current staircase. The entrance hallway is quite large so the staircase can move to occupy part of it. However, im not sure how much this would add to the cost. If it is prohibitively expensive, I will redesign the extension to a smaller room.

Can't be specific about cost, but can tell you we did this when we totally renovated our house 10 years ago. We bought a 60s house with a steep stair case and had to "relax" it. It was not expensive ( in the grand scheme ). They all come kind of ready-made. It has made a huge difference to us.

Thanks. Im hoping to ring fence the amount of work ie won't be a total refurb. I should probably ask a builder but would be good to get an estimate from those who may have costed it as an independent element in their refurbishment.

I understand and my post probably wasn't very helpful considering everything however I would say that we costed everything very carefully and thought it would be a huge expense for the stair case replacement and were delighted and surprised when it was one of the cheapest (and one of the most beneficial) things we did. Get some quotes.

I didn’t do it - we were quoted £5k plus cost of stairs and it took us over budget. We would have needed to reroute wiring and heating pipes from a landing. It’s a shame as our stairs are steep but the layout is fine where they are, it was more around future proofing for old age or sale.

Can your extension house the new stairs and then use the old space as the room you want?

Lots of factors drive the price. Like whether heating and electrics are impacted, also what about the room above? Building regs define the headroom needed. Do you need to change the reinforcing of the upstairs?

The actual staircase can be quite cheap (like £400): www.selcobw.com/standard-staircase-2640-x-865-x-4144mm-263530086

@Rollercoaster1920 you are right. There seem to be many considerations. I was hoping the stairs can be moved and relaxed without impacting the upstairs since the new ones could perhaps just join the existing landing. The current staircase has a winder and aligns with an external wall of the house - this is where the extension will come in.

Who is best positioned to help me think through options - i guess it will be a combination of an architect and a structural engineer?

@Seaside3 the staircase is in my entrance hallway so cant be moved to the side extension without moving the front door etc.

You could just move the front door and make the old hallway another room.

Or make a wide hallway that includes a bootroom/loo/utility/office what ever you need.
