New bathroom London

We’re planning on having our bathroom renovated later this year. South East London. It’s small and it would be a slight remodel to put a storage cupboard behind where the shower currently is and shift the bath tub (with shower over) forwards to sit one end under the window. Currently we have one small storage space under the other end of the bath and you have to squeeze down next to the massive sink to get into it.
It’s the only bathroom/toilet in our 3-bed house.

Can anyone recommend any companies in SE London who would do this for a reasonable price?
Also where have people got fixtures and fittings from? Are Wickes any good as we have one nearby and my sister-in-law recommended but they used them many years ago. But it seems an easy option.

Finally, if anyone has had similar done in London, I would love to know how much it cost you all in (and when given costs have gone up so much recently). We don’t want luxury and are keen to keep costs down but would spend on things like a decent shower and possibly the wall tiles etc. I am thinking £6-8k - is this realistic or way too low?
Thank you!

I used bathroom and plumbing superstore in Croydon for everything. They have a few other branches around London / South East. They are a trade type place and so I went away with a ton of brochures from different manafacturers and could mix and match. They had a showroom on first flooor. There is a discount over the beoxhure prices, was different for different manafacturers.

Used a local fitter. I think mine came in at 7 which was fitting new bath, toilet, sink. And cupboard. Plumbing roughly same place. Building a false wall behind toilet to box in with shelving inserts. RePlastering as I moved from fully tiled to partially and new flooring.

that was about 4 years ago.

We had our kitchen and bathroom done by these guys, local independent two-man team:

They were awesome, really diligent, great workmanship, tidy, and very reasonably priced. They did everything, so didn’t have to time in separate trades for different parts and did a bit of joinery as well for a concealed shower wall and pipe covering. I’m not related to them, honest!)

For materials, we bought the bathroom fittings from Victorian Plumbing, and have been happy with them. Tiles were from a local showroom. Can’t comment personally on Wickes, but have never heard bad reviews of their stuff in the way I have e.g. Howdens.

Think £6-8k is very much optimistic, esp in London. We are in London (SW) and had kitchen done in old place in 2020 and then again in 2025 in our new place by the same guy - his rates had nearly doubled in that time. Our bathroom in the new place was not super high spec or very big, but was a strip everything out then put in walk-in shower, toilet, vanity with sink on top plus tiling and some pipework. Came in about £14.5k. NB Most tradesmen get discounts if you choose and let them source stuff.

4yrs ago small bathroom refit in south east london: just shy of £6k for labour and materials (not fixtures). Use HE Olby/ Deep Blue Bathrooms in Lewisham for design and everything except the sink unit and bath panel (they were Victoria plumbing I think). Came in cheaper than my own searches online / eBay etc.

Have budgeted £10k to refit/redesign bathroom in new home but I’m worried it’s not enough…

I’ll add that we saved about £1,500 by removing the existing bathroom and tiles and disposing of it all ourselves - so if you’re prepared to do a bit of sledgehammer work yourselves, have a couple of friends you can rope in, and aren’t too precious about your car interior / can borrow a van, give it a go.
