Looking for advice on gutter issue

Hi all, I'm having problems at the front of my house when it rains - I have water coming over the side (see pic attached) of my single storey extension and splashing down the front of the house. You might he able to see theres a downpipe from the top of the house opening up onto the extension roof. Is it maybe a problem with this?
Also, I have water coming down one part of the extension under the window also, second pic attached for ref. Could this be a gutter problem or is my windowledge just squint and causing the water to run there?
If anyone can help I'd be grateful thanks

Have the gutters been cleaned out recently? Best thing is to get a ladder out and have a look.

We had them cleared when we moved in about 18 months ago but not since so that's an idea, thanks

Check if the stopend (circled) is closed properly
Also one of these gutter brush things https://www.guttersupplies.co.uk/gutterbrush-4mtr-white-single-length-p-GB4W/
will help prevent leaves and debris from blocking the gutter

Gutters block up very quickly in autumn winter, leaves, debris, they really need checking monthly.

Hard to tell from the photos, but to me it looks as though the gutter stops at that stop end. The building looks like it turns a corner behind the stop end and the guttering doesn't continue around the corner. On that face of the wall, if there is no guttering is water shooting down the Apex roof and down the wall. As I say, hard to tell from the photo.

DrPrunesqualer · 12/01/2026 11:06

Is that gutter laid to fall to the down pipe if not then that’s why the rain is bypassing it
Or
It could be clogged with leaves grime etc so needs a clean

The water below your window is because the window sill may not be -far out enough from the rendered wall below. Sills push rain away from the building if there’s no sill or it doesn’t stick out enough you get what you are seeing.
-or / and the sill may not have a drip

It looks however like that wall has been rendered later than the sill installation. If so they should have adapted / changed the sill to suit

You're right, there is no gutter at that side 🙄 guess I better get onto a roofer....

It’s very hard to see what’s going on but I think you’ve got an internal gutter where the roof on the right meets your building on the left

If that’s the case you have lots of rain collecting an running down that junction
If so you need a hopper at that point because that’s too much and it’s cascading over the edge

Id get a roofer to sort that out and ensure that you have flashing at the connection between the lower roof on the right and the building on the left

I’d Show the roofer this thread

Might need a bit of time for the pic to upload!

And yes sorry the extension projects slightly out from the main building so theres an area 'round the corner' so to speak, where the e tension and main building meet. Its maybe about 20cm wide?

Very Helpful drawing

The downpipe from roof ( labelled as your drawing) has too much rain for the gutter below to accommodate. That’s why it’s splashing over the side and down your wall

You need a hopper to catch all that rain
Suggest you Show your builder your drawing and ask them to install one
