How can I find out when a property was first listed (not just reduced)

Google search tells me property log but I don’t have a computer for that. Any other smart ways outside of asking the estate agent?

If you Google the address and use the Streetscan website

Go to the EPC summary ( its near the end) and usually the date the last EPC was calculated relates to when the property was going on the market as
all for sale properties have to have one

I should say that if a property has sold within 10 years then you don’t need a new EPC unless you want one if you’ve upgraded

But you can check when it was last sold in rightmove sale history

Look at the property timeline on zoopla eg this one

Thank you. Annoyingly can’t find any info on the EPC and it’ not on zoopla but looks like was listed in Aug with the EA

Watch out OP this isn’t that accurate

Have been watching a property that reduced last year but Zoopla has the property history wrong and listed September 2024 for the current value. No reductions shown, but there has been 2 and it didn’t go up for sale in 2024 either

Try Mouseprice. They used to list in number of days but looks like it is only months now.

https://www.mouseprice.com/property-for-sale/N22%205HY?sort=mostrecent&p=10

You do have to register, but it is free to do so.

The EPC isn't a fool-proof approach as they used to be valid for 10 years. I certainly used one in the past for two round of sales 5 years apart.

I recommend the Area360 add in for RM. That includes number of days since listed as you view each property. That's much easier than seeing something on RM and then having to switch to Zoopla/

User1212 · 08/01/2026 09:50

Thank you I’ll take a look. Unfortunately property isn’t on mouse price either. It’s very odd it’s only on RM! It was reduced in Nov and about 7% over our budget so trying to see what it was originally on for and

Google 'Find an EPC' and you can look up by postcode. EPCs go back 10 years so you won't necessarily be able to tell if it was listed last yest, but if there is no epc you will know that it hasn't been listed.

This doesn't work on all devices and browsers:

On RM for iPhone:

Go to "properties sold nearby"

Scroll through the list which should say "properties sold in [postcode] since 1995"

Find the house through the name/number

Click on it - even if there's no photo

Scroll past property sale history timeline

Under that may be a box "previously listed for sale on Rightmove month year to month year"

This also works for rentals - although there is never a price stated.

If I can't find anything there, I usually pick the top 5 estate agents in my area and search their Facebook pages.

Sometimes, they don't put the road name on listings. So, I use a key word they like to use often, such as "Victorian" or "townhouse" and I still find the listing anyway.
