Help with master ensuite loft room layout!

We are planning a master ensuite loft room extension. It's currently looking like the bedroom will be much wider than it is long. See photo. We love the idea of lying in bed looking at the view of the garden, hence the configuration as it is. But it means that at the end of the bed we'll only have 65cm of clearance (once you account for the bedframe), compared to 1.5m on either side of the bed. Will this look odd and/or feel tight at all? The idea is that we'll have floor to ceiling windows, which should help. The room off the back of the bedroom will be a kind of walk in wardrobe (was going to be larger but compromised the ensuite too much). If anyone has any ideas for a better configuration, they would be gratefully received!

@BrownTroutBluesAgaingood point about the bathroom not being accessible from the stairs but I’m not sure I mind too much - might help deter the kids from using it!

I don’t think we can have the bathroom at the back of the house due to the waste pipe. Our neighbours have done it but had to have macerating toilet which I really don’t want.

Swap WC with shower and run the pipes under the landing ??
( depends on depth of course )

Wheres the current stack / facilities at lower level.
Can you drop it down the extg chimney ( I’ve done this before and had it plumped back in at lower level ) .

All depends on what’s going on below of course

So the downstairs bathroom is directly below the place you've suggested for the walk-in wardrobe. The external wall (with the waste pipe) is on the left.

and I presume drainage out all on the left side
in which case it’s a macerator. You can get ‘normal’ looking ones these days but they are a bit noisy

So apart from your first suggestion and slimming down the width of the WC the only other potential
would be to swap the shower and dressing room around on my last plan.

Im out of ideas and im an architect so used to this
Sometimes the best options have already been found

I had a feeling you were an architect! Thanks so much for you help @BrownTroutBluesAgain - really appreciated. The slimmer bathroom is the front runner

Good move I think

I hadn't realised the left wall was external.

Why not:
En suite top left. Pipes will run down the exterior wall, full height shower, could even put a opaque window facing left for extra light.

Make it narrow, loo on back wall, sink in middle with door opposite, shower other side of door.

Wardrobe below that.

I wouldn't do a walk in because it uses too much space. But have eaves access.

The landing takes up a lot of space. Could the stairs come up by the chimney stack? Then the upstairs landing could be more storage.

I'd have a window rather than full height glass at the back and have a dressing table looking out over the view

Thanks for your thoughts @Rollercoaster1920. We're quite keen on having a landing with velux above as that will provide much needed light into our currently dark hallway below. Agree it does compromise the space though.

Quite a few people have said not to do full height glass, but this is one of the things I'm actually most excited about. I think it'll give the room wow factor? It's a nice view.

I get the wow factor. What about radiator placement?

You could still have a velux above the stairs, but without the landing. It would be darker though, it's true.

Vertical radiator by the window I think
