DIY also fab for us. Any kitchen fitter should be able to fit it tbh.

We got a beautiful solid wood kitchen with quartz worktops for less than Howdens were quoting for MDF and laminate.

There is a great Facebook group that's worth joining if you decide to go with them- we had so much helpful advice that really improved the kitchen. The plan we are ended up with was vastly better than any of the ones that Howdens, Wren etc suggested, and planning it ourselves really made us think about the space and how we use it.

If you're not confident with planning, there are some fantastic independent designers recommended in the group who can help, and maybe even help you save a bit. I loved the planning, though!

Anyone ordered the diy kitchen and not been to the showroom? I'm based in Scotland

mynamefor2025 · 20/12/2025 10:08

Yes will be a local joiner that fits it.

Did you just order samples? Did anything go wrong with ordered/measurements?

Yep! Just from samples. No measurement issues at all, designed ourselves and no damage in the order at all. Delivery is slightly annoying (they give you a week timeframe, which is then narrowed to two days, with the slot you are assigned following) but we both WFH, so could accommodate.

Very happy with it! Our neighbours also have DIY and are very happy with it.

DIY kitchens every time. My fitter recommended Howden's. Couldn't match the price even 'giving' me all his discount. After fitting the DIY one, he said he would recommend them to anyone and wouldn't recommend Howden's any more

If you live in an expensive area fitters can charge a lot. We’d asked around and in the end went with wren as they have a list of approved fitters who want repeat work. Our first fitter gave us a very high price for fitting so we asked for another quote which was loads less. The wren choice and process is really good and straightforward. The whole process was quick. We got three prices for quartz and wren came out the same so we booked that through them too to ease the process. I would use them again for sure.

Another vote for Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch. You basically get a Neptune Kitchen for a Wren Price. Solid timber, extra tall cupboards at no extra cost and customer service is incredible.

Same here, we have ours fitted and painted and it looks beautiful and way way more expensive than we paid for it in the 50% off sales. Loved the design also, with larders and appliance hutches etc. if you go with them, go for the wider pan drawers as it’s much more cost effective
