Has anyone boxed in radiator pipes and they look OK.

I have radiator pipes in all rooms in new house, it has concrete floors so putting then under the floor is not an option. Some on them run along the skirting and not above it. I know the only option is boxing them in but it looks so ugly.just wondered if anyone has any innovative ideas.

Yep. All mine are boxed in behind the skirting board. ie the skirting board comes out further from the wall. at first glance it's not noticable that they are deeper than normal. I'm very happy with it.

We've just painted them the same colour as the skirting and it actually looks ok.

You can get skirting that has a hollow back to hide pipes or old skirting in.

We also boxed in under the skirting in a previous house, not really noticeable unless you were really looking. The wider top does show the dust more though…

I used Talon brand pipe covers. If the Talon pipe clips are used, you can clip them straight on. If not, you can replace the existing clips to Talon ones with the pipes in situ.

The pipe covers can then be painted over to match the skirting boards. Ive used them on walls where the pipes run verticallyand skirtings and they hide them really well.

You can definitely box them in and have it look decent, as long as you keep it simple. Most people use MDF with a removable front panel, paint it the same colour as the wall, and it more or less disappears.

If the pipes sit low, you can also run a slightly deeper skirting over them which tends to look cleaner than a full box. Nothing fancy, just straight boards and sharp lines so it doesn’t draw the eye.

Thanks for all the comments I guess I'm just going to have to live with the ugly boxing in its on two full walks in the both bedrooms. I did think of doing a full half panelled wall a bit like a wall to wall radiator cover if that makes sense.

I’ve just moved into an older house, some pipes have been boxed in, others just run along the wall.

Where they have been boxed in, it’s been done in a rather ‘’chunky’ style. In the bedroom it’s about 11cm deep and the bathroom is much higher and 17cm deep.

I actually like it, it seems more a quirk of the room than just hiding something. But it’s a very old house and it seems to suit. Plus useful to pile my books on.

I know there's no alternative but just annoying that furniture will stand away from the wall, and it looks obviously boxed in.
