Loft boarding out companies

Anyone recommend any that they have used.

Ive contacted two local joiners who both failed to turn up. Wonder whether it's just too much hassle for them.

There are loads on Insta and Facebook advertising (since me and DP have been talking about it) claiming to start from £600. Bet they are triple that price though in reality.

We have a small modern 3 bed semi and need a ladder too.

where are you based? I had mine done by a local independent tradesman. (south east)

Well I used a good firm in Edinburgh. I think you need to say where you are!

We used Loft Shop (near Romford) for our ladder; it was about £650 including fitting for a large hatch in a new location with a pull down timber ladder.
DH & I boarded out most of the loft ourselves in a weekend using loft legs & boards from B&Q. It was pretty straightforward, I'd recommend a jigsaw for cutting boards quickly though.

We used Access4Lofts, I believe they are a franchise, our local one was a good price and did a good job.

I boarded ours out myself and got someone to just put ladder and hatch in - the boarding is easy really just heavy on the knees and obviously need to take care to keep weight on the joists

I’m in North Staffordshire.
I couldn’t nor would want to do it myself.

I need some lighting putting up there and the ladder will be tricky to install too.

We got a local general builder to do it - its not particularly complicated work as its just nailing down some boarding in the attic and then if needed making the hole and attaching the hatch and ladder to it - generally they buy these ready made. The only specialist bit is adding lighting but they should have an electrician they use for this purpose. I would ask around for recommendations, ask on local facebook groups etc. Ours was around £3000 all in and took two days (but could have been one if they hadnt had to go to another job!)

Maybe you need a carpenter rather than a joiner especially for the hatch/ladder but I think a decent handyman should be able to do the boarding only if you want to split costs.

I've had no luck finding someone who will do it for me locally.

Careful it doesn't impact ventilation and make everyone damp.

Tbh we just laid a few boards down over the joists, didn't even nail them in.

*everything 🤦🏻‍♀️
