indulge me..hardly decision of the century, i know. but would really like grey slate floor tiles for our new kitchen/extension
now dh says porcelain ones look just as good and more practical and cheaper.

sorry to sound dim but can you get 'smooth" slate tiles - if they're treated? as only things that puts me off them is being difficult to clean.

also are they good for under floor heating?

zzzzzzz..waddya mean you're bored now?! as you were...
any (helpful) thoughts gratefully received

Hmmm, will watch this with interest as I need new kitchen floor too. I think you can get smooth slate tiles. I've had ceramic tiles before and they were lovely, but can get chipped. My sister has Chinese slate in her kitchen, which is beautiful, but uneven - yes it is a pain to clean, and the table wobbles... Actually I quite fancy RUBBER. Is that just weird?

well, jules, can't possibly comment on whether you're weird or not
but, yes, i thought of rubber, too. looks really funky and relatively inexpensive. i just wondered whether i'd get fed-up with it..
oohh, thanks for smooth slate reassurance

Both look great but smooth porcelain much more practical and easier to clean and don't stub toes either!

thanks, noddy!
