Would a mix of curtains and wooden slatted blinds in the same room look OK?

We have a large L shape dinning/lounge with 5 windows in total facing east, south and west of varying sizes that I need to choose window furnishings. We are not overlooked. House is of a Georgian style with a modern interior.
I was thinking of ready made eyelet curtains, neutral colour with some texture for 2 of the biggest windows on the same south facing wall 228cm width and drop.

The remains 3 same size windows, 2 of which face south and remaining west facing window (width 118.5cm, drop 150cm) to have wooden slatted blinds in a neutral colour too.

Would this look OK, would anyone even notice? Previously we had JL fitted curtains which cost over £2k 20+ years ago and recently got a JL quote for over £6k for made to measure. Really want understated windows. Not keen on Roman blinds, wouldn’t mind roller blinds for the 3 smaller windows but not sure if they would be ok for a lounge/dinning room.

Thank you all in advance. I know if I don’t make the effort to sort this out, I will still not have anything for a long time,

Sounds good. I had wooden blinds and curtains we didn’t close in the bay in our lounge. Recently moved and will have wooden blinds again when we decorate the lounge.
Ready made curtains are fine and if you’ve not spent as much you can always change them.

Wooden Venetian blinds are great for controlling south facing window glare. We have blinds and curtains on the same window for different reasons.

The bit I'm not sure on is whether it'd look odd to have different things on different windows in the same room. Maybe if the room is zoned. Or I think you could get away with having curtains on all bit only blinds where needed.

I totally agree with you on getting standard sized curtains. Fit the curtain pole after you have the curtains to be sure the drop is perfect!

We have curtains and shutter blinds on the same windows, looks fine IMO.

Mix & match on different windows in the same room, may not be to everyone's taste but it is your house.

Thanks for your reply and your tip about fitted the curtain pole afterwards to get the perfect drop. Just to be clear, I will be having curtains only on 2 windows without blinds and on the 3 remaining windows blinds only.

Update.
Thank you everyone for your replies. Very much appreciated. I made an error, the 2 large window where I am having ready made curtains only are east facing and not south facing.

I won’t be having blinds and curtains on the same windows. It’s blinds only on the 3 smaller windows as there are radiators underneath and the two much larger windows, one of which are French windows, will be curtains only.

Another question, , faux or or wooden blinds? I couldn’t tell the difference when I compared in store!

I can’t visualise your set up but in our case we have a very symmetrical frontage so we had to have shutters at all the windows or it would have looked odd from outside. We chose shutters rather than blinds because you have the option of opening them in sections and they are a lot easier to clean.

Thanks for your post. Our house is detached and set back into a corner plot on its side so I don’t think we need to worry too much about a symmetrical frontage too much but very good point,
Also thanks for the info re shutters being easier to clean than wooden slatted blinds and being able to open in sections. My hubby did ask about cleaning off them. Do they block any of the light? Another concern of my hubby but with 5 windows I am not worried if we lose a bit of the light.

It sounds nice. I hung wooden blinds on windows either side of the fireplace. They matched the stained wood trim in the living/dining areas. Then hung floor to ceiling ivory pleated drapes with sheers over very large picture windows in the Livingroom and diningroom. Drapes would not have looked right on windows flanking fireplace, and would have needed custom made wood blinds for large picture windows. By being able to match blinds with stained trim, it seamlessly blended together.

I dislike curtains with eyelets. Always look a bit cheap. I like coordination in any large room or it looks very disjointed and pick and mix. I would have the blinds but have long curtains at all windows. Otherwise it’s not very attractive aesthetically.

I love the shutters but they do reduce the light so we tend to open the upstairs ones fully and tilt the downstairs ones to let in as much light as possible while maintaining privacy. Ours are white, with broad slats. Natural wood and narrower slats would reduce the light further.

They are great for insulation, and depending on which way you close them you can have full black out or allowing some light in. We have the latter as I love to wake up to gentle light and the striped patterns from the sunlight filtering through the slats.

It’s quite a bold aesthetic and we may soften them with additional curtains but for now they work.

I think it sounds lovely!

I've got french pleated curtains in our rooms and I much prefer them to eyelet curtains.
