Should we move for last few years of school?

Hi there, looking for any advice. My children are 16 & 13. We currently live in a house that is a bit too small for our family of four, and a bit out of the way of their school. I am considering moving slightly closer into town, ideally so kids could bring friends home without needing to organise parental lifts.

Not sure if we'd be better to just stay put and make the best of our current house, or take the plunge. The main drawback to moving would be becoming financially stretched once again (having nearly paid off our current mortgage) and the stress of the move itself.

My priority is making the best of these last few years with the kids at home. Not sure whether more sociable location and change of scene outweighs the other impacts of a move on them.

Thank you.

By the time you get a sale and move the 16 year old could be driving. One year they could be off to university.
So move if you want to, but it probably doesn't make sense for the eldest. Perhaps think about what you'd want for empty nest years.

I'd only move if you find somewhere you'd be really happy living just as a couple.

They soon grow up in mid teens and start to go their own way. At just eighteen DD went off to university for four years, came back and within a year had moved in within a year.
