Designing a new kitchen- where do you store your Ninja?

We're finally re-designing our very small, cluttered kitchen. I love a kitchen appliance, so I'm thinking of getting a Ninja multi cooker to replace a few of them with a single appliance. The thing that's put me off so far is the size of them!

So if you were designing a kitchen from scratch and could incorporate a home for your Ninja, where would it live in your kitchen? Ideally I'd like to be able to put it away rather than leave it on the counter all the time. I was toying with either a deep drawer next to the oven, a tambour unit, or a pull out shelf of some description, but would love your ideas. TIA!

It would have to be a counter top cupboard as they're too heavy to move about really. We just chuck a cover over it as it is so so ugly. But the kids actually cook in it daily so it's worth keeping it easily accessible. It also needs ventilation and for what its next to to be easily cleaned same as any cooking device.

cinquanta · 20/11/2025 09:09

Probably not much help but it would live in the cellar where I keep the other ninja like appliances.

dontmalbeconme · 20/11/2025 09:12

Mine's actually in the utility room. It's too cumbersome to drag in and out of cupboards, and I like clear worktops in the kitchen.

SemmaLina · 20/11/2025 09:16

I put our Ninja airfryer in a cupboard , I appreciate it’s not quite as big or as heavy as the multi cooker but I don’t like things cluttering up the surfaces
A base cupboard , with the top shelf raised high , still gets used a few times a week

CocoPlum · 20/11/2025 09:20

My ninja (a 14 in 1) is on the worktop as it's a small kitchen, no spare cupboard space, and would be too heavy to keep getting in and out. Plus I use it almost daily!

I don't have a.microwave or kettle though (boiling water tap), so there are minimal appliances out (I have a blender and a toaster on the worktop).

Geneticsbunny · 20/11/2025 11:42

Appliance garage?

GasPanic · 20/11/2025 11:45

I dunno, but I am careful where I put my air fryer.

It pumps out hot air, you need a hot pad to put the basket on and the air it pumps out has grease in it, so will wreck the wall if you put it up against it.

At the moment I stand mine on a granite block to keep it off the worktop, and pull it back from the wall -most of the greasy air goes onto tiles which can be cleaned.

TangoWhiskeyAlphaTango1 · 20/11/2025 12:32

My Ninja sits in a cupboard and I lug it out when I use it. I really don't like appliances aside from the kettle being on the worktops.

CatherinedeBourgh · 20/11/2025 12:47

I had mine in a cupboard (with a socket in it), now I've moved it to a shelf under the counter. I basically have a gap between the wall and the ovens the size of a unit, a shelf 1/3 of the way below the counter that the ninja sits on, and an open space for the robot hoover below.

Fibrous · 20/11/2025 13:31

I don't have an airfryer but I do have a lot of appliances and a small kitchen. I designed my worktop to be extra deep so I can have them on the work surface without interfering in my food prep as I hate pulling heavy things in and out of cupboards, and so just wont end up using them as often. I've got a coffee grinder, coffee maker, kenwood mixer, juicer, carbonated water maker, kettle, toaster, and magimix all on the surfaces, as well as the usual stuff like a wooden spoon holder, a ceramic chicken for eggs, etc :). The magimix is massive and I need space around it for bowls so that's on its own bit of worktop by the sink. Everything else slots under the overhead cupboards, or shelves. I calculated the heights of everything before deciding where to position the cupboards and shelves.

grannycake · 20/11/2025 14:42

I have a tall cupboard that keeps all my appliances. Air fryer and instant pot on one shelf. Bread maker and slow cooker on another. Food mixer and large food processor on bottom shelf. Top shelf holds all mini appliances such as hand blender, mini chopper etc. I love it and my worktop is clear apart from toaster. The ones that are used the most are on the middle shelves and are easy to lift in and out

JDM625 · 20/11/2025 14:48

We have wall cupboards which go to the ceiling on 1 wall, so all lesser used things go up there- 10 in 1 pressure cooker, slow cooker, Christmas themed serving dishes etc. I have a fold out little stool to reach up there.

Ideally though, I'd have a cupboard lowered down- with a draw to easily pull it out and lift onto the counter. We are still renovating, but plan an appliance garage in the utility which is next to the kitchen.

canyon2000 · 20/11/2025 15:21

Could you keep it in the oven if it fits?

TheNoonBell · 20/11/2025 16:21

Ours permanently sits on the sideboard in the utility, below the cupboard that stores the slow cooker and food processor.

We do use it a lot.

I have seen spring-balanced shelves that lift out of a cupboard, pushing forward and coming up to worktop height. But I haven't found a supplier. I wanted one for a Kenwood Chef.

I once saw something similar to bring a typewriter onto a desk.

Cooking appliances, including toasters and kettles, need a heatproof surface above, and ventilation for the heat and steam. I'm toying with including a ducted extractor when I get a tower unit that will hold oven and microwave. Building a new kitchen is the best time to do it. You can hide duct on top of wall units, or inside.

Ilovepastafortea · 21/11/2025 16:40

I'm also having a new kitchen installed - the first kitchen in over 40 years of house ownership that we've had the money to put one in from scratch. I must confess that I'm rather nervous about it all, but I have a couple of lovely local tradesmen supplying and designing it with me who come highly recommended by my (rather fussy & exacting) friend who they've done lots of work for over the years. I'm sure that once it's done that I will think of ways that it could be improved, but that it the way of things isn't it?

My kitchen is quite small, but the new one will be better designed with carousels in the corners of cupboards so that I can use the dark recesses that currently I can't get to & are unused. This means that I can get things like the bread bin, dog treat and dog food containers, tea, coffee & sugar containers etc off the work surfaces & into cupboards to clear work surface space. I'm also having a sort out & have decided to use the crockery that we had as wedding presents and only used 'for best (eg: once a year at Christmas) and will get rid of all the mismatching 'everyday' stuff.

My intention is to keep the Ninja on top of the (electric) cooker hob as I use it more often than the hob & having to move it may encourage DH to use the Ninja or microwave rather then waste power heating up an electric hob (we don't have mains gas to the village where we live so electric is the only option)

Those springs are phenomenally expensive. I looked into it.

i took out an integrated fridge which left a tall unit with sockets and ventilation. I put drawers in and a pull out shelf. The ninja multi air fryer thing is on the pull out shelf.

Sprangle · 22/11/2025 08:02

Thank you so much for all your suggestions- I'm amazed kitchen companies haven't come up with an off the peg solution for storing these appliances, as everyone seems to have them these days!
Do you mean something like this @PigletJohn ?

They do look rather fancy indeed! We have such a small space, and I'm so fed up with the counters being cluttered up with stuff, that my brain is trying to work out if losing a cupboard will be worth the gain of storing away the ninja- but I suspect it might! If I opt for a single integrated combi oven with the ninja I can lose the microwave, slow cooker, rice cooker and air fryer that are currently crammed awkwardly into my tiny space! I love the idea of an appliance garage too- it would mean I could close the door on all the clutter! It also sound like they might be too heavy for my deep kitchen drawer idea, so thank you so much for the heads up on that everyone!

Kitchen Appliance Lift - Granberg Unilift 870

The kitchen appliance lift can be used for many duties. Principally for lifting various types of food processing machines. But also for soft drinks crates....

It’s huge - it sits next to the toaster

Fasterthan40 · 22/11/2025 09:32

My appliance cupboard has a pop out flat drawer/work surface. I use it for the toaster but that might work for your ninja. I think the joiner said 25kg max. I really love having empty counters and everything stashed away.

Maddy70 · 22/11/2025 09:52

You will use it all the time so it needs to be on the counter

PigletJohn · 22/11/2025 10:26

@Sprangle

Yes, but the one in your link looks like it is operated by an electric motor.

It seems to be called a kitchen appliance lift. I think it would be possible to build one using the sort of gas cylinders used on a car boot lid.

They do seem to be very rare. I don't think I've ever seen one in a Hafele or Blum catalogue, though they do pull-down spring balanced racks.
