Horsham Housing, is new build as bad as they say?

We are retiring to Horsham from suburbian London as I grew up there and loved it. The town centre really seems to have thrived... but there is so much new build! The gardens all seem tiny and houses very close to each other, which I am trying to get away from. Are there streets in Horsham with a bit of character, like not built in the last 20 years? or are they actually ok, and I will get used to it? am wondering if I should move out to Broadbridge Heath as it seems to have different housing, but really starting to get cold feet. Any thoughts really appreciated. Budget about £1 mill.

Horsham has many different areas and housing - I suggest you have a look on one of the property websites to get an idea of what you can get for your budget, but there should be no issue at that price point.

Ah yes Crawsham.
As the name suggests it's just a suburb of Crawley
Absolutely ruined the feeling of the town and is just one big blot of new builds.

It will depend on how close to the town centre you want to be and whether you will want to rely on buses at some point. For that budget I would look on the east side of town around Comptons Lane area or perhaps the area on the west around Guildford Road where there is a mix of style houses with larger gardens but still easily accessible to the town centre.

What about one of the near villages?

do you think the villages feel connected to Horsham? I mean they seem to have a church and a pub but thats it, so am not used to village life at al. The community feel would be fab if they were big enough. do you recommend any?

Look in the Millais side of town, older housing stock and far enough away from bring lumped together with Crawley/Southwater/and all the rabbit hutches in Broadbridge Heath and north of the town.

For one mill in Horsham you don’t need to live in the new builds - plenty of other housing stock either walkable into town or On a bus
