Integrated kitchen appliances

We are making an extension and will be putting a new kitchen in. Thinking if it’s a good idea to put an integrated microwave. Any one have this can share experience. Any other appliances worth making an integrated one? Any tips for the overall kitchen design?

We went back to mainly freestanding appliances. Integrated fridges were tiny, so we would have ended up with doubles taking up more space and far less choice. When our old integrated fridge leaked it damaged the units and the cover panel as we couldn't pull it out. Built in microwaves were so much more expensive.
We just went for stainless steel freestanding appliances the next time as I like the look anyway.
One thing I would like is an appliance garage, it's not the big appliances that bother me, but the small ones!

I've never had the money to design my own kitchen. Both properties we've owned had a kitchen put in by previous owner, and DH is of the opinion we need to save the money/ pay off mortgage first. I reckon in approx 15 years time (will be 60), I'll be able to afford a kitchen of my choosing!

We have had to replace integrated appliances and it's always been more expensive with less choice, so I'm in two minds whether to integrate when I finally get to pick a kitchen.

I'm on my third kitchen and we specifically chose not to integrate any of the appliances. I like the look of brushed steel dishwashers, etc, and they match against slow cooker / toaster, etc anyway. So much cheaper, easier to replace, more room inside. I'll never buy integrated again.

Our hugely expensive integrated microwave lasted no time at all so we replaced it with a normal one for a fraction of the cost and my DH built it in. Looks pretty good.
We do have an integrated slimline dishwasher which I'm very pleased with.
