Islington advice

My adult DD is thinking of buying a small flat very close to Islington and Highbury station - is it a good area? I haven't lived in London but she's very keen on the area. Would it be a good area to live in in your mid to late 20s and then raise a family?

It’s a lovely area! Known for being quite posh and trendy. It’s a thing to be a ‘N1 Mum’… Jeremy Corbyn sells home made jam on Islington Green apparently if that gives you the sort of vibe!

It’s a good area, especially for mid to late 20’s. Good transport links and not far from either upper street or Dalston / Hackney for bars etc. Loads of people raise kids in that area as well, there are good schools both primary and secondary. However it’s big jump price wise to go from a flat to a house in that area so if they do decide to have kids they may wish to move further out if they want more space.

It's a lovely area for toddler and primary school age. Great transport links, a decent high street and easy to explore all of London. We lived nearby and went to lots of baby/toddler classes at St Mary's Church and St James's Hall, children's concerts at Christ Church, there's a lovely toddler play area at Highbury Fields, toddler group and shows at Little Angel, playcare at Fefe Fanclub. Our dcs were at a nursery near Angel and families went to a mix of state primaries (very small catchments for the popular schools) and nearby privates like Children's House, Lyceum, St Paul's Cathedral, Charterhouse Sq. It's not so great for secondary options but you can move again for that, or many families go private or to selective state.

Thank you! It sounds really great - I might move there myself :)
