No joke !! The ceiling paper ripped off in pieces, not the wall. That’s what took 2 hours!
We’ve got 8 rooms, 8! Plus ceilings and hallway, stairs and landing. It’s not possible. How much would and painter snd decorate charge to strip the walls and ceiling no painting anyone have a ball park figure ? We’re in the midlands. I could cry.

One of these works well for scoring the paper.

Then a steamer and some really clean scrapers.

We’re getting people in to do it, we haven’t got time between running a business and young kids. It’s having a full rewire too so will need to be plastered after or at least skimmed.

That’s a turnaround!! I thought you said way too expensive?

My friend local to us in the West Midlands had a quote of £1600 to decorate her living room recently , which her house is a 2 bed terrace so her living room is the front square room so not overly massive. That includes filling and sanding walls etc but no wallpaper …

In my quite extensive experience of renovations, I now find the thought of stripping stubborn wallpaper very quickly lowers my standards on what is acceptable on the walls. I still have wood chip in one my spare rooms as previous experience of removing still makes my eye twitch. Painted white, with furniture in the room and art on the walls you don't notice it.

The guy didn’t word his message very clearly lol so it was actually £320 a day, would make it around £1600 which for the whole house isn’t bad, but we are getting a couple more quotes this week! One is a company who does the lot, strip, plaster and paint

Oh I've been there! My lounge took me a week to strip!

It had layers of painted on wallpaper and backing paper. The walls underneath were damaged. I used a steamer that helped a little but it came off in chunks.

It's a messy horrible job. After one day I determined that I would do it, get a nice tea in the oven and then go in the shower. The routine saved me!

Looks like we might have to tackle it ourselves going by one quote I’ve had so far - £640 a day maximum 4/5 days 😬

Dp is a painter and decorator. £640 a day is insane!

Close all the doors and windows and just leave the machine on for an hour. Should peel straight off.
