Snags after rewire

Our rewire has been done and I'm generally really pleased. There are a couple of gaps by light fittings where I'd like them to fill properly, same as the others. I wanted to check about gaps between wall and skirting board - is that up to us to fill once everything has dried out or is that for them? We paid for their plasterer to close everything back up.

There is also now a hole in the cupboard ceiling which I definitely want them to fix.

The skirting would normally be down tow whoever does the decorating , I’m confused about the hole in the ceiling it looks like it’s been repaired (badly) with polyfiller?

Thanks - skirting seems normal. Have shared pic of the cupboard ceiling with them and said I need that to be fixed. I think that it needs another board in as there is a hole and then the polyfilla. The cupboard is old and I wouldn't be surprised if the ceiling had just not coped with being opened for the cables to go through - they didn't let me know there was an issue though. They are coming out on Monday for final walk around.

Hi OP, I'm an electrician, generally we don't as a trade do much in the way of making good - I always point out to customers that we will rough plaster in the chases if they want us to, but that's it.

Generally in this trade we do no decorative making good, that falls to a plasterer or decorator, usually engaged by the consumer, but occasionally via us.

Our training and focus is on installing the wiring to the relevant safety standards and doing the technical stuff and leaving little bits of coloured plastic stripped off the wires everywhere!

The hole in the ceiling though should have been filled, because we have to ensure that fire cannot spread along or up a cable run (that's part of our job!!), so there should be some intumescent filler or a cut piece of plasterboard in that corner.

In the trades us sparks have a reputation for being very, very messy, there is a joke that if you are found in possession of a vacuum cleaner you will be struck off the register of competent persons!
