How would you arrange this wardrobe?

This is DD6's wardrobe, we aren't in a position it rip it out and start again so I was hoping to put some drawers /Ikea kallex units in the bottom or top to give her more space for clothes.

The shelf along to the top is just clothes she's outgrown that I need to sort through. The white baskets to the left have knickers, tights and socks.

In the hanging unit on the right I put leggings, jumpers and PJs but it doesn't really work as everything gets pulled out when you take one thing out. I like having at least half of the hanging space we have now.

The inside sections measure 50cm wide, so I could fit a single kallex unit and try to put shelves in but Im not sure its the best use of the space and I cant find wire baskets that fit the space?

Any suggestions welcome please 🤔

I would double up the hanging side and put anything that needs to go on hangers there. Two rails, one above each other should fit. The other side needs full size shelves for jumpers, t-shirts etc with shoe storage underneath and baskets for socks and undies on the lowest shelf

Honestly, I would hang pretty much everything that could be hung up.
I would get some shelves or a drawer system at the bottom for pyjamas, underwear, socks, and leggings.
And clear out anything and everything she doesn’t wear or is grown out of.
you need to store the leggings in a drawer or basket vertically, not on top of each other. I like the picture below.

You can get wire baskets that slide out on plastic runners screwed to the sides of the cabinet. Often used in kitchens for vegetables. They are cheaper, lighter and easier to fit than the drawer type with ball-bearing runners.

They are sold by cabinet width ( e.g. 500mm) but are actually smaller as they fit inside.

Cheaper in DIY sheds or eBay than in kitchen showrooms.

If you get a free-standing set with legs, instead of screwed to the sides, you lose more width,

I just had a look online and can't see any with the plastic runners, but lots of the ball-bearing type.

First off, I would lower the rail and the shelf, then rather than put a set of draws in, put two Ikea bedside cabinets in, without legs below her hanging clothes. Put wire baskets on the new lower shelf and put winter clothing on the top shelf until needed. If space is your problem, I’ve used a wall hung Ikea Besta unit as a headboard and added wheels to one at the bottom of the bed, as they are narrow.
Having had a tiny box room, coming up with space saving ideas is a headache.
