Anyone with triple glazing here?

Time to finally upgrade from my flimsy crappy single glazed windows. Triple will only cost me a few hundred more than double. But I've read that triple stops light getting in and my flat is already darker than I'd like as it is. I've also read that the loss of light is minimal and perhaps not even that noticeable? Anyone with triple glazing and can let me know about the impact on how much light gets in?

Can’t really advise but I wanted to say that for a flat you might need planning permission as flats don’t have the same rights as normal dwellings.

Are you replacing historic windows?

i think triple glazing can look much heavier from an aesthetic point of view and I don’t think the thermal performance warrants it.

We had triple glazing installed in our previous house and it was great. Definitely better in terms of heat retention & noise reduction.
Cost was about 10% more than double glazing so to us it seemed a good choice.
Never even considered a reduction in light either before installation or after so I would say it is a non-issue.
The only negative comments we encountered were from companies who were unable to accommodate our requirements (vested interest in discouraging us from triple glazing🤔). "Too heavy, hinges & mechanisms will break, frames will be too thick etc etc". Needless to say that in the 10yrs the triple glazing was installed (we then moved), we never had a problem.

The only thing we did which was different was to insist on all panes being openers or dummy openers (kept all frames the same width). Supplier said that very few people went for that option (more expensive and nothing to do with it being double or triple) but agreed that it undoubtedly resulted in a much nicer aesthetic. Fom the outside, it was impossible to determine which were the opening panes.
