Am I worrying?

I was suppose to exchange contracts on Monday was told by solicitors it was definitely happening. Move date was set . I never heard anything so contacted conveyancer . Was told move date definitely set. I had to put deposits as its so close. I got in touch with EA been told they are trying to get hold of the person at bottom of the chain for deposit. Days have past since. Im now really worried. Im not being updated its less than 2 weeks to move date and not exchanged due to the person at bottom of chain. Any advice

I don’t want to worry you more, but I had four consecutive exchange dates set, and my day four, after I’d authorised exchange and it hadn’t happened, I called my agent, who is brilliant, and she went down the chain, talked to the solicitors, and the ftb had pulled out, and us higher up the chain hadn’t been told. He’d lost his job, informed his solicitor but they hadn’t passed it on. Nightmare. I feel for you. Start setting deadlines, talk to your agent, they can find out more than solicitors. I hope it works out for you x

We had a lot of waiting around to exchange, and ended up exchanging on the Friday and completing on Monday. All very stressful. The trouble is you can set a deadline but what do you do if they don't meet it?

As the vendor at the top, I relisted the property after giving them a final deadline. I just couldn’t cope with the uncertainty.

Pulling out is the only thing you can threaten but you have to be prepared to go through with it. It's a shame when you have no other option.
