Buying loft demise of leasehold flat

I’ve been trying to buy a flat for ages. Ideally would buy share of feeehold but they don’t come up very often. I’ve found a flat i really like but it’s leasehold. I would want to convert the loft to add a bedroom. The freeholder is ‘freeholder managers plc’. I’ve tried to ask if they would grant the variation of deeds to demise the loft but as I don’t yet own it they won’t give any info.

Does anyone have any experience of buying the loft demise of a leasehold Victorian flat (it is a house split into 2 flats, not a high rise /purpose built block). Was it an easy or a painful experience. How much did it cost? And how long did it take? Or did you want to do it but were never given the loft demise? Or anyone with experience of ‘freehold managers plc’?. Any advice gratefully received.

No but I know someone who wanted to convert the loft of their Victorian top floor to more rooms.

The person who owned the ground floor flat strongly objected to planning permission being given due to future building noise and scaffolding being erected.

They will all be going to Court to attempt to sort it out.
