Firewall incomplete

Morning I am trying to get my house a bit more shipshape to sell it and I know from when I moved in there is an incomplete firewall in the loft. It’s like half a brick wall at the moment.

I have tried googling oh my god I cannot make sense of the right order to do things. If someone could explain it to me like I’ve never even seen a loft before that’d be amazing.

it’s which order to do each step. I know I need to get builder quotes (bricklayers I expect), chat with neighbour, party wall agreement? And somewhere it said drawings? There are party wall surveyors. Honestly it’s another language. Any guidance would be much much appreciated

My son's house had this when he was buying it, picked up by the mortgage survey. The seller got a builder who filled the gap, pretty sure they didn't use bricks, just some fire resistant material. Once evidence was sent the mortgage was approved.

Tbh I'd just phone your building control team at the council. They know everything. They will tell you what needs doing and in what order. I converted a garage, DIY, just by following the advice from the building control team.
That conversion included a firewall, and it wasn't made of bricks, just fireproof board.

Thank you so much! @Sirrahand @OttersAreMySpiritAnimal
honestly I feel so out of my depth. I have to keep reminding myself I’m a competent adult(most of the time!)

How old is the house?

Unless it is already mostly brick, you could have it built of plasterboard on a steel frame. That will be lighter and cleaner than carting buckets of mortar up the stairs.

I would want to have some flooring put down first or somebody will put their foot through the ceiling.

@PigletJohnabout 1900. That sounds sensible. I’ve been asking around for builders and have a few names now so I will ask them about steel frame. Thank you
