Hi. I'm in temporary accomandation 3 months now. My relief duty stage ended and recived decision that main housing duty is owned to me and I'm in band 1. Past 3 months I could bid on properties but now council decided that I have to wait for direct match and can't bid anymore. Wondering how long people been waiting to get direct offer.

It depends massively on where you are and what size property you need.

It could be years, could be less.

It will depend as previous poster said on the demand in your council.
The Council will offer you a property that you have to take unless you have very good reasons no to move to the area offered.
It may not be the type of property you want in the area you want. It may not be a council property. They can discharge their duty to house you by offering a private let on a years lease.
They have a duty to house you but at the minute you're housed so you might not be a priority.

Yeah it states on decision that it could be anywhere in the city so I'm prepared I won't end up where I would prefer. It says as well I'm in the highest band with priority. I know I won't get anything any soon but just was wondering how long people been waiting for direct match and unable to bid. I need 3 bedroom house and can see on homefinder most of the properties are 1 or 2 bedrooms so looks like I will wait a while.

As I said it may end up that you get a private let rather than social housing so you need to be prepared for that too.If no council properties meet your needs that may be the only option they have to house you and discharge their duty.

Honestly no one can tell you. Sometimes local authorities publish their figures so you could have a search.
