Other joint owner's conveyancing solicitor has stated they are dealing with the sale of a jointly owned property. The other owner is represented by a power of attorney so the sales process is being overseen to some degree by the court of protection. The power of attorney is using his own firm (in which he is one of the partners) to do the conveyancing. He is also the person who opposed the sale which was granted by the court. There is a history of misinformation to the court, hefty legal aid bills and delays from their side.
They are now trying to force me to come into the office to sign the conveyancing contract that agrees to appoint them, WITHOUT forwarding me a draft contract first. So I would have no time to properly read it.
Is this standard practice? When my friend recently sold a property, they were sent the contract in the post for them to sign and return.
Any advice much appreciated!
