Dumb lightbulb question

Can i replace this shower room lightbulb myself, or does it need an electrician?

I'm averagely capable, but don't really do anything with electrics other then change normal lightbulbs?

It's a light in a shower room. I'd obviously turn the power off before I did it. It just looks a bit more... technical than I am used to !

We have those, very easy to replace, I think the bulb just pulls out.

Ooh, really? That is very encouraging! Thank you. I see a trip to Screwfix in my near future then...

The bulb does indeed just pull out (grab the central plastic part and wiggle!), however, these bulbs are no longer manufactured with the advent of LED. If you do manage to find them, you will need to get the correct wattage (usually 16w 28w or 38w) and the correct pin configuration, (2 pin or 4 pin).

There are LED versions of these bulbs, but they aren't usually a direct replacement and may involve some minor rewiring to get them to work.

Oh, thanks. That makes it trickier!
OK I can see mine is a GE 28w 4pin T5 3500k.

And I'll have to buy from a random online shop, as the likes of screwfix etc seem to no longer stock that... And the LED thing would explain why!

I'd better check mine! How frustrating.

Yay it worked! It really was that easy.
Thanks both!
