Boiler Not Working

No heating or hot water this morning. I see my pressure has dropped, but can’t figure out how to top up as everything looks different to what I’m seeing online.

I can see the filling loop, I think, but the other black rap seems to be something else.

Photo attached. Any ideas?

Thanks

Is it a Worcester bosch?
If so you need the plastic key (or long pliers) to turn a hidden valve right underneath.
I have you tube video saved I can share if it is Worcester bosch.

Have you searched for the manual online?
Ime the tap on the right is the one for topping up.

It’s a Vokera Compact, and the user manual doesn’t explain how to do it. It’s has a diagram which looks nothing like above

Imo the black tap is for topping up pressure.
I have a Worcester Bosch greenstar Junior & my filling tap is off the flexi pipe like above, no hidden valve on mine.
Id turn is slightly & see if pressure starts to go up. Do you have cover under your home insurance? A lot have homeserve included

I agree that it's probably the black tap. Try turning it and see it the pressure goes up. If the pressure has dropped it will mean there is a leak somewhere though so it's worth checking the pipes at the bottom of each radiator to see if they are damp. You can put loo roll round the pipes to check for slow leaks.

Time4changeagain · 01/10/2025 08:24

@Geneticsbunny I thought I had a leak on mine because the pressure was constantly dropping. I had all the floorboards up & back down for weeks… To later find out it was just the expansion vessel that needed re-inflating 🤦‍♀️😂

Zanatdy · 01/10/2025 08:42

I’d suggest trying turning the black tap

bosqueverde · 01/10/2025 08:51

Definitely the black tap is involved, turn on few seconds and listen if it flows.
Sometimes there's a second tap to turn on for safety. If the black tap does nothing, follow that pipe to look for a second one.

GasPanic · 01/10/2025 10:34

It's almost certainly the black tap (what else could it be for). The yellow should always be for gas.

As posted above sometimes there are two taps. And when you turn them you can hear the water rush into the heating circuit and watch the pressure gauge go up.

Top tip. When you get your boiler serviced, ask the engineer to show you how to re pressurise the heating circuit and how to empty the magnetic filter. These are two easy jobs that pretty much anyone can normally do.

Thanks all. It was that little black one. Just different from my last one which had two. Sorted for now.
