Survey to demonstrate there's no further subsidence

Hi,

We bought a house a few years ago. There are two extensions completed at various times and to different standards.

One - a small room subsided. However it was mainly because foundations weren't deep enough and it was basically a glorified shed. This is a clay soil area - they should have done them much deeper. We went through the insurance. They rebuilt it with very deep foundations but our premiums went up £900 a year and they put down 'subsidence' blaming a combination of the clay soil, newrby tree, hot summer and rubbish foundations,

We think the foundations on the other extensions are much deeper - the neighbours said they saw these foundations and drills etc... and it was overseen properly by a reputable architect. However we're thinking to get a survey to show there isn't the same risk to this big extension for three reasons:

  1. We could show the insurance company and request a price reduction when we renew
  2. Reassure ourselves. But if theyre not deep enough maybe consider underpinning as this extension is much bigger. I get really stressed after what happened to the other extension.
  3. We might hope to sell in a few years - maybe the survey would help.

Id appreciate any advice please. Is this a good idea? Will the survey be likely to meet my objectives?

Thanks :)
