I am having a confusion.

Should I buy a 300K 4 bed semi-detached house as cash(something I can buy as cash)

OR

To buy a 450k 4 bed detached house on 50% mortgage?(off course this is a bigger 1700sq ft house)

it’s about choosing between a cash affordable house or tie up in years long mortgage.

please help

Waooooo.what an enlightening thread. So many great inputs from both ends.I suppose there is constant push/ pull between a bigger house versus a smaller one but mortgage free.I m now slipping to later one but I would need a lot of convincing to my other half and children.

I'd buy the smallest house that is comfortable for you as a family. Can't say which one that is without knowing you! We're currently mortgage free in a 3 bed cottage (650kish) (late 30's, 2 young DC) but are about to sell up and take on a mortgage of roughly 200k as we really need appropriate space for my ageing mum to stay over regularly and a garden bigger than a postage stamp.

If we didnt have genuine need of the bigger space I wouldn't be taking on a mortgage just for the hell of it.

The semi. Less pressure, less cleaning.
