Wet wall panelling end trims.

Hi,

I'm torn between tiles and panelling because of difference in price, only snag at the moment is the finished look.

Current options are black/white/silver trim.
I'd like wood effect panelling with similar coloured or brass trims, especially as the shower bath has a window and will need trimming all round.

Pic of example with black trim.

Has anyone managed it?
YABU: It is possible to get matching trims.
YANBU: Budget panelling won't achieve high spec look.

You'll probably get better advice here:

Panelling won't match the finished look of a high quality tiling job whatever you do. Yes you can get black, brass effect or chrome end trim but I haven't seen matching sold anywhere. With black I was told you need to buy the expensive stuff as it shows watermarks more than chrome - so you will be hitting it with chemical or just vinegar more regularly.
We went with panelling on an upstairs bathroom last year and bought the best stuff, although chrome trim. The result is a bit meh compared to a downstairs bathroom we had properly tiled several years ago. But certainly not to the point of thinking to re do it.

Rock Salt Prints do Acrylic wall panels in either the huge amount of designs they show on their website (some are quite bold but there are very sedate ones too) or you can choose your own design. No trims required but a gap of 2 or 3mm between panels which you fill with sealant which is probably far easier to match into the wood colour.

Their customer service is brilliant so if you need advice contact them to see if they can help. They do do wood panel designs but as I said they can also do custom prints. We had a precut panel from them for our shower last year. It meant the design was centered to the size we wanted. Very easy to clean.

You can buy a sample pack which has a small completed panel and then the designs you are interested in. It gave us the confidence to buy online from them. I know I sound like I work for them but I promise I just bought a panel from them.

Oh that's helpful, thank you.
Builders pushing for it, which is more for time saving for them but I'm not 100% sold on it.

Thanks you, will have a look as think it would need a trim at the end of the shower/bath wall as not doing the whole room.

Don't be pushed into anything you don't want by a builder, been there, done that. I would say timewise wall panels are so much faster to fit than tiling would be. It is easier to clean with no grout to discolour over time. But this is your choice. Don't rush it. Considering the cost of wall panels you need to be sure you love it.

What I will say is Rock Salt showed me that there were so many options out there as honestly the drab colours of the usual wood fibre core panels was sending me to sleep. The cheap plastic ones look like those you would get in a caravan and would dent easily. The acrylic Di-Bond panel from Rock Salt was fairly solid, you cannot see through the panel so you cannot see the adhesive behind but we did have to tank the walls first. This was not my first tanking as I did this in the children's bathroom behind the tiles.

I would highly recommend it as a product.

Thank you for the info. I have seen good ones, but cost quite a lot or the trims aren't great.
