North facing living room

My living room is north facing and is in need of redecorating. I am really unsure about a new colour scheme. We have always gone for pale off white/cream walls but want to have a change. However we are conscious that the room is north facing. The sofa is teal and floors are pale wood colour. I was thinking of Laura ashley seaspray white but am concerned with going for a blue shade as it may be too cold. Any advice?

We have teal sofas with setting plaster by farrow and ball in a north facing room. Our carpet is a beige colour. I chose the colour as it was recommended for north facing rooms, it’s really cosy and not dark at all. It also goes well with the teal sofas (although ours are a bit darker than yours).

Agree with HungryKat. I've got blue sofas in a north facing room and a similar plaster coloured paint but it a Little Greene one, I think it's called deep clay.

Don't use a blue, you will regret it. I like the suggestion of a peachy pink. A very pale warm green could also work.

Yes either a warm pale green or a warm neutral. I would get rid of whatever is in the alcove as it doesn’t match at all. Maybe add shelving in there to give it character. Also you need a bigger rug and a bigger mirror those. Ones you have are too small. Bigger versions of those items make a room look and feel more luxurious.

A peachy pink or indeed F&B Setting Plaster is a good shout. I wouldn't want to go paler than that...but then I like deep, saturated colours.

At our previous - rural - house, we used Setting Plaster in a large, east facing bathroom with small window that had lots of trees/foliage outside so it was a fairly dark space. We colour drenched the entire room and it always felt warm in there, despite the white sanitary ware and the porcelain tiled floor!

You definitely need a much larger rug @Jewelinthecrown00 - it should sit under the front feet of your sofas. Also agree that any art/mirrors will look more luxurious/carefully considered, if larger too.

Look at Wickes Chalk White. I have it in my northcfacing lounge too and its a lovely pale pink tone.

Thanks for all your really helpful comments. You have affirmed my fears about going for a blue colour. I'm going to get some of samples of dusky pinks including Setting Plaster which I like the look of, I've use Farrow and Ball paint before and really like it.

I just thought I would post a photo of the living room now, I chose Farrow and Ball Setting plaster, it does feel very warm now and I am happy with my choice, so thanks for all your suggestions.
