Kitchen ideas, new oven/hob and worktops?

We want to replace a free standing cooker with an electric hob and oven into our existing (small) kitchen cabinetry. So as it would need new worktops I wondered what reasonable priced stuff is currently on trend, in vogue, whatever. 😁I also thought about replacing the tiles around the worktop and behind the oven. Has anyone got 'worktop cladding' or splashback instead of tiles? I thought if that looked good it would make it easier to choose a different width worktop than our old 38mm laminate.
If anyone has a recommendation for an electric hob and oven than that would be good too. Thanks.

I’d get an induction hob if you can. We replaced our laminate worktop with quartz and the splashback is the same. Neff double oven and hob.

What sort of price is quartz @Bluevelvetsofa it's only a 3.6mx1.8m l-shaped kitchen area but tbh I'd think it might be a bit too pricey for us. Was wondering about this compact laminate that seems popular atm?

We bought our induction hob and oven from Samsung and they are very good. We have a compact laminate worktop from Howdens and I really like it. I like the look of the thin top and it feels very nice too. Also it can be cut by your fitter, not pre-cut like quartz
We have white acrylic panels instead of tiling which is very easy to keep clean and looks good.

Thanks @canyon2000 I was just about to start another thread, after reading an old one on compact laminates, titled "Compact laminate - yes, no, what?!"
Is it difficult to install? I was wondering about adding compact cladding as well as that would cover where the old tiling was and the difference in laminate heights, 38mm old to 12mm new.

Neff slide and hide oven, quartz worktop with upstand and splashback.

Compact laminate looks and feels cheap and awful imo.

Ours was £2950, for an L shaped area. That includes the built under stainless steel sink and cut out for the hob. Someone came to measure a couple of weeks before and he was so precise with high tech equipment.

You can get the worktop with an upstand to cover the gap. Imo it looks and feels very nice. It is cold and feels like stone as the surface is textured slightly. I imagine quartz could be nicer but it costs thousands more!

We paid just under £1200 for 2x3m worktops and a 2.4m breakfast bar last year.

I’m not a big fan of laminate full stop. Our budget allowed for oak, which we finished with Osmo oil but we have a big simple slab of quartz on the island.

Definitely induction hob and you could think about a multifunction oven - 1 1/2 at eye level.

Stainless steel sheet can make a great splashback and can be purchased online relatively cheaply and looks good with wooden worktops with an upstand.
