Does anyone have NOT black aluminium door frames - external

If anyone has any advice on going for non-black aluminium sliding doors I’d be very grateful.

I feel that there’s so much of the heavy black metal around I’d like something different but it’s hard to find any examples of an alternative

We got aluminium heritage green bifolds from Origin - they’re lovely, a sagey green/grey. Good colour for a period house x

We have new aluminium white sliders put in an extension last year. Very happy with them. Didn’t go for black as thought white was more classic and not faddy!

Ours are sprayed in RAL 7035, a pale grey with a green/blue undertone. It fades into the background more than black or dark which is what I wanted. Also goes well with yellow brick which we have at the back. Very happy with the choice. RAL 9002 was the close contender.

Thank you. I had looked at the RAD champagne but thought it might come out too silver. I will look at the green suggested, that sounds very nice.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who doesn’t seem to love the black.

I have green too, but crittal style so opening outwards rather than sliding. They are RAL 6021.

That’s a lovely colour. I like the idea of something light. But I am being me with resistance from the project manager and window / door sales person, who keep repeating that 99% get black for a reason.

Black is having a moment (and architects always love black!) but before that it was 99% anthracite and before that it was 99% white. Choose something you think you’ll like in 10 years.

My view is that black makes the doors themselves a feature (therefore, it might be good for people choosing crittal and wanting it to be a focal point) whereas with a softer colour like a green/greige, you look at the garden beyond rather than the doors.

It also depends on what your colour scheme will be inside the room. If you’re going to have lots of black accents like black handles and light fixtures and picture frames then black doors might tie in. However we chose light colours for all these so black would really have looked out of place.
