Option to move to Cornwall or Edinburgh! How to decide

My husband’s job has given him the option to relocate and we could go south to Cornwall or to Scotland! We’re in the midlands currently so same distance to either. We’re both really keen to move for a better lifestyle and better education (3 kids age 8,4 and 2) but can’t decide between the two. We’ve had holidays in both. The weather in Scotland worries me, but can it really be that different to the midlands? We’d go Edinburgh way. The education and general cost of living seems a lot better in Scotland, plus job opportunities for myself. Anyone relocated from the midlands to either?

Ha I can sort of see that happening though, I love the beach but I’m basing that on a few days a year. Definitely would want other things around to do

Edinburgh for the politics and free higher education!

i think we’d go outskirts as seems easy to travel into Edinburgh. I liked the look of queensferry and a lot of Fife looks stunning, dalgety bay looks beautiful

For your children I’d choose Scotland. Cornwall is too isolated and rural and they will have to move away for work.

This is great thank you! I don’t really mind the cold, it would be rain that puts me off! From what others are saying it’s really not going to be that different to the midlands, probably less rain. Further south is likely warmer but we’re not used to that at the minute , and less to do when it’s raining.

Tax is higher in Scotland, education system is different to England and not always thought upon with favour (by Scottish relatives at least). But Edinburgh is a lovely city, expensive mind you to buy housing. Cornwall is long, the far west is pretty isolated, east Cornwall is better connected to roads, but remember the nearest airport with even a decent amount of European flights is Bristol (Exeter is very limited)
