I was aiming to put my house on the market this month. However, talk of a new property tax in the forthcoming autumn budget worries me. Is there anyone else out there in the same position with a similar worry? If so, what do you plan to do? I’m debating whether to push ahead and attempt to sell ASAP, or wait until early next year.

I have seen a steady reduction in house prices in the areas I’m interested in moving to, but as those house prices drop so could my own.

Anyone else making plans to sell this year or early next year? Perhaps we can use this space to discuss and support each other in the process.

There are conflicting reports out there about whether house prices are going up or down. This, plus the upcoming autumn budget, makes it difficult to decide whether to sell or stay put for a few more months. Firstly, these events have implications on how much to price a property. And secondly, the tax implications are significant – where will the burden fall? On the buyer or the seller? I can only expect that things will get worse for both parties.

Anyone else struggling to decide whether to sell their property now? I have a sense of foreboding and something telling me to bite the bullet and just list as soon as possible and hope for a quick sale.

What are the pros and cons of each option?

You speak for a lot of people! We are considering a big relocation, but it should be our last move.

We won't do anything at all until the Chancellor sits down on 26 November, having told us where the tax axe is going to fall. IMO, It is going to hurt pensioners first and worst

Middle class pensioners, with carefully nurtured DC pension pots of course. Not mid level paper pushers who have always worked in the public sector; they must be protected at all costs.

I should probably qualify my last post, to say that the RR tax axe is going to fall hardest on the middle class middle income pensioners who tried to do the sensible things. And now, their savings' pots are going to be raided to fund the indigent and inadequate.
