Large Bunkbed Dilemma!

Three years ago I purchased a large bunk bed for DC. It comprises a small double on the bottom, single on top and some storage. It is massive and I ended up paying a handyman over £100 to put it together - it took almost 7 hrs.

DC is now a teenager and wants a double bed. I’m happy with this as stripping the bedding and remaking the top bunk is difficult.

The bed is in good condition and the bottom bunk hardly used, so I am looking to sell second hand. My issue is how to take it apart for collection? I cannot do it myself and I don’t want to pay a handyman again especially if it’s more expensive to take down rather than sell.

Just wondered if anyone has any bright ideas?

TIA

Tell buyer they will need to dismantle on collection?

How much would you be hoping to sell it for? I don’t think it would go for much more than… £50…? Maybe. In that case I’d list it for free and state that the person collecting needs to be able to dismantle and transport it themselves.

I know there’s a safety aspect to consider, inviting a stranger into your home upstairs. I’d ensure someone else was home with me - partner, brother, friend, to keep an eye on things.

We sold a normal bunk bed v cheaply on Facebook marketplace about a year ago. I’d advertised as available for collection, buyers to disassemble and take away. We had a handful of timewasters but after a week a lovely man and his 11 year old son came and took it apart and took it away - I ended up helping too as I didn’t mind at all.

No guarantee but you might be lucky with a buyer. I would also say, perhaps you and your teen son could do it together? It’s not that bad to take things down rather than putting them together.

Taking it apart is quicker than building. It'll probably undo into sections to transport. Both ends, the top bunk base, to bunk sides, ladder, the double end and double base.

But list buyer to dismantle because then they see it together so know there aren't any missing parts.
