Ok to get new carpets laid before new doors fitted?

We are having a refurbishment of our house which is moving more quickly than anticipated and have to leave our rental earlier than we thought. We need to get our whole house carpeted 1st before new wooden doors fitted as our carpenter is too busy to do the doors for another 6 weeks. Our decorators will then come back and paint the door surrounds afterwards. Anyone see any problems with this. Our 1st choice would be the doors fitted then carpets.

I wouldn't be getting carpets laid until other stuff is done. Especially painting and traipsing in and out.

The doors will possibly need to be refitted after the carpets are fitted so I’d say carpets then doors is the best approach.

I agree, carpets then doors make better sense as they will fit the doors to move over the carpet. The other way round you might find the doors need adjusting to allow for depth of carpet.
As for painting after, guess you'll just have to live with that.

If you can, get the skirting and door surrounds painted before the carpets; painting them with carpets in place is bloody awful and will definitely result in carpet stuck to paint, or worse paint on carpet.

Any door frame touchups can happen after the hinges are put in place, if needed; they'll be way away from the carpet.

That would be my preferred choice too. Our decorators have been very respectful and a high standard protecting our house so far so feel they would be extra careful.

We recently had renovations done which included having new fire doors fitted, we also removed all the old carpet. When having the new carpets fitted we've had to take all but one of the doors off again, saw a bit off the bottom and re-hang them because they wouldn't fit over the new carpet. So I'd say carpets first then doors, but also try to get the doorframes painted first before fitting the carpet as it's much easier without the carpet getting in the way, and it'll also be a much neater finish behind the hinges

Get carpets first as the flooring effects the door.

Nothing worse than a door that grindes over carpet and that you have to throw your whole body in to open or a door with a huge 1 inch gap at the bottom where its had higher floor thats been replaced.

Our kitchens just been done and ended up over an inch higher than previously was where as DS bedroom now has an annoying gap as we took out laminate that was on multiple levels of old carpet and put in a simple soft carpet.

Carpets then doors we did it that way as doors needed re sized on bottoms with new carpets in

Using a good carpenter to hang the door would alleviate all of that.

Not if you do the doors BEFORE the floor is installed... they aren't mind readers and cannot guess how big the length will be before the bottom is done.

You install floors then hang doors.

Agree with paint door frame, carpet, doors then touch up door frames.
