Hello smart women of Mumsnet. I have recently moved into a new flat, and I love it but I’d like to rejig the shower room and it’s a bit tricky due to the small size, the wide window and the need for a non-standard door.
It currently has a large shower cubicle straight in front of you as you walk in. This cubicle covers nearly half the window, and means the access into the toilet and sink area is a bit tight.
Toilet and sink are at the other side of the bathroom.
The room has an internal sliding door and can’t have a normal door due to hallway layout. However, I am wondering if I could maybe replace the sliding door (which takes up a lot of bathroom wall space) with a folding door that folds outwards.
It feels like the most sensible place for a shower would be across the room where toilet and sink currently are. Then move toilet to where shower is, and maybe have a sink on some kind of unit in front of the (frosted) window.
This would involve moving the soil waste pipe from one side of the room to the other. Plumber says it’s technically possible but very expensive!
I’m wondering if there’s another way to rejig the room without moving the loo! My friend suggested turning it into a wet room, but is there a way to do that without all the sanitaryware/windowsills getting covered in water every time you have a shower?? Some kind of simple glass screen somewhere perhaps?
I’m attaching a diagram. If any wise women have any suggestions, that would be extremely helpful. Thanks for reading.
