I was looking at buying a property in the area.

I live close by. It’s not like it used to be. The traffic is horrendous and the area has become very rough. Lots of knife crime - I saw a guy chase another with a machete last summer. If I had a choice I wouldn’t live around here.

Pigletin · 11/08/2025 22:49

No it’s not

Davros · 11/08/2025 23:15

Most boring place I’ve ever lived

SpidersAreShitheads · 12/08/2025 03:57

I would say it’s very bog standard. But rough in parts, better in others, busy with traffic. Agree with @Davros, it’s pretty boring.

Its certainly not “naice”, if that’s what you’re asking. But ok enough to live? Yes. It’s fine - but not especially desirable.

What area are you coming from?

Pimlico

Coming from Pimlico? It would be a severe culture shock. Or just a plain old shock. If you want to move out to buy bigger, consider Ealing or Ruislip but those are both big areas so be careful choosing an exact spot. I also always suggest Hanwell because I’ve got a friend who lives there and it’s really nice, bit of a hidden gem, and now on the Elizabeth line

Krest · 12/08/2025 09:39

The area is ok, nice in parts not so in others like most places. If you can afford it, Ealing specifically the Northfields area is much nicer.

Krest · 12/08/2025 09:40

Hanwell is nice too, as it South Ealing.

Anywhere in Ruislip is nicer and safer than Northolt. But it comes at a price.

Notsomarryfloppins · 12/08/2025 16:36

Don't do it.
I lived there for 26 years. Its congested, too expensive and has nothing to offer

Plmnki · 12/08/2025 21:54

Pimlico to Northolt? Jesus wept. Get on the tube and spend ten mins walking around Northolt.

How do you think I'll get on?

I think you’ll get on the first train or bus back to Pimlico

DorisTheFinkasaurus · 12/08/2025 23:05

It’s really not good. I had considered it following my divorce.
Consider Isleworth! It’s really lovely, good transport links, and property is reasonable. I moved right between Osterley station and Isleworth overground and I love it. You want to stay away from Hounslow East and stick to Osterley/Isleworth. The planes can be loud some days but not every day and it’s really not an issue.
