Rough price for Howdens worktops please

I'm changing my Ikea worktop for a different Ikea worktop but the fitter was just here and suggested Howdens. He said they were much better than the Ikea ones. I should have asked him about price of course but I didn't! So anyone bought from Howdens recently, could you tell me the approx price of their worktops please.

It's trade-only, so the fitter gets a price, which is dependent on their relationship with Howdens. Then they quote you a price for the job. Some fitters will tell you what Howdens is charging them and just charge you the same and others will just quote a total price. The local Howdens salesman might be willing to tell you a price but you can't buy directly from them without a trade account. They are broadly similar to DIY Kitchens whose prices are online.

That's interesting and very helpful. Thank you so much.

Just to add it might be worth going in and asking. I managed to buy a kitchen from a local one even though I thought they didn’t do it.

We got a trade account with Howdens, as I designed and DH fitted our kitchen. We bought worktops from a specialist supplier and you can measure yourself and even order online for someone to fit. Depends what you want and you may be pushed to Howdens for the installer to get a cut of the cost of the worktop and the selection will be limited. Do an Internet search and you'll be able to see the cost per metre.

Try MKM they sell a good range of kitchens and are very easy to deal with

What kind? We installed a Howdens kitchen earthmover this year and got our oak worktops from a local supplier (advised by builder) because they were cheaper and longer for the same product - Howdens we would've needed a join. Our builder told us Howdens are expensive for worktops and that was a 30k kitchen so we weren't on a tight budget

Well I'm replacing an Ikea one and on a budget so going for laminate. Going on the advice that DIY kitchens are a similar price to Howdens it seems their laminate is a similar price to Ikeas.

I had ordered Ikea upstands that took around 6 weeks to be made and delivered. They arrived at the weekend but the wrong bloody colour. 🤬 I don't fancy waiting another 6 weeks and he fitter said he could get Howden materials quickly enough so am considering them now. Although I really want the Ikea colour Grey Beige so not sure Howdens have something similar. Might drop in and have a look at their samples today.

Thanks everyone for all the replies!

In theory, everything at Howden's is always "in stock" so delivery times are just a few days. This is one reason fitters like it. If you have several local depots, ring one and ask which has the best display, as some are quite tiny.

I just looked at my quote from a year ago and a 3m worktop was about £180. 5m of edging strip was £53.
ETA we ended up getting compact laminate which was about twice the price. Very nice though!
