Is it normal for bathroom fitter to leave holes in the wall outside?

We’ve now got rats in our ceiling and have had to call out a pest control company, we started hearing the noises when we were getting our bathroom Reno done and the pest control company said it was likely the holes outside that were left in the brick work by the bathroom fitter. I’ve not contacted the fitter about this but is it normal for them to not fix up holes ?

Is it where the overflow was? I have these after a new bathroom and combi boiler fitted

I’m not sure exactly what the pipes are but yes sounds similar. Are they not supposed to fill them?

Possibly not if they’re a plumber but you’d think they’d at least tell you. Mine haven’t caused any issues so I’ve just left them

In my experience plumbers don't fill in around pipework outside. I've done it myself or if I've got a builder working at the same time I've asked them to do it, but it's definitely been on me to notice it and sort it out.

I had that. And bees. Get someone to close it.

We've just had a new bathroom put in. Our fitter capped/filled all the outside holes.

I wouldn't expect a plumber to fill holes in the wall. That's a different job. In fact, iirc, you don't want to be filling the hole too soon after it has been opened anyway.

They could have told you it was open though. It's awful having rodents in the house, op. I'd be miffed if this is a problem that could have been entirely avoided with a small heads up.

We had our bathroom done recently and the plumber filled the holes.

They should have filled them or at the very least, made you aware so you can get it done. Open holes through the fabric of the building is never a good idea (unless designated vents).

When we had our soil stack removed, the plumber fitted the new roof tiles as part of the job, as he did the old overflow.
