Storing stuff tips/recommendations

Currently trying to whittle down the amount of stuff/rubbish/clothes/clutter and improve my storage spaces. But struggling with storage of winter coats and duvets and the like that are big bulky and cumbersome.
I've tried the vacuum bags but they never seem to hold their suction. I've also thought about just using 2 thin duvets and removing one in summer as they're easier to store than a separate heavier tog duvet. I use the lowest tog ikea duvets for summer usually, they're neater on the bed too) and just add blankets but have bulkier duvets for winter which are a bxgger to store.

I don't have much roof space as I'm a chalet bungalow but would appreciate any ideas, tips, tricks on how others manage their home organisation.

Thanks in advance.

We have vacuum bags with folds into a box, so it keeps the duvets and coats in even if the vacuum valve doesn’t seal properly. Very handy.

Do you have ottoman beds as they can swallow huge amounts of "stuff" while still being as comfortable and stylish as a normal bed.
We have a king size ottoman bed in our spare room and it holds all the spare duvets, pillows etc.

I have a duvet that's 5 plus 10 tog (I think) so you only have to store maximum of one part. They come in different warmths so you'll find something to suit.

I've just switched my duvets for a 3 and a 4.5 tog that I'll use together in winter. But I did it as anything bigger won't fit in my washing machine.
I'm using the suction bags and I switch my wardrobe around with the season's. Ie winter stuff goes into storage when summer stuff is out and vice versa.
I like dual purpose furniture. Eg a coffee table that is a blanket box, bed has drawers etc. I also live in a bungalow, it has no storage when I moved in so I've put free standing cupboards in as many places as possible, like behind doors, down the hallway and in a nook in the conservatory. Suitcases in the loft contain spare curtains.
I redid the kitchen and the new cabinets go all the way to the ceiling which made quite a big difference too.

Our winter duvets are layered on the spare bed. If we have a guest I pop them in a storage bag or 2 and either loft them or keep them in our bedroom until guests have gone. We recently got a new combi boiler which involved relocation. I gained a kitchen cupboard and lost some airing cupboard space. Used to store all our bedding in the airing cupboard plus all the towels. After a towel cull, the towels have gone back in. The bedding was also rationalised and is now in a pop up ottoman that's also a useful seat in spare bedroom

Shelves can get you a lot of space, although not good for clothes.
