How far away from new build development not to hear noise?

So, I was going to view a house tomorrow but just noticed that 73 arce of land have been sold nearby (brought by different developers). Its a strange layout but the house I'm viewing seems about 0.3-0.5 mile away from the nearest bit of the site - site is quite narrow and extends back. Could getting permission to 600 houses. My main concern is noise, I work from home & very noise sensitive. The house I'm viewing is uphill I think and the developing land is on the flat downhill. Have people had experience living near building sites? Is it 'just' about far enough away?Just thought I'd ask people's experience- purely regarding the noise. Thanks

No that's not far enough away because of the extra traffic, particularly lorries. You can usually hear a digger working a good mile away too.

Ah OK thank you. I've haven't lived near a development before so really can't gauge the impact. This is very helpful. Thank you

I lived near a housing development where apartment blocks and houses were being built in a flood risk area. The pile driving went on for months and the noise and vibrations were pretty bad. Also consider the mud where all the construction plant and delivery vehicles were going back and forth to a very muddy site. Mud all winter and dust all summer.

That will probably take a few years for them to complete the whole site too.

Yeah it will be many years. I'm just wondering how far away I need to live so I don't hear the noise. Difficult to know I guess.
