Matching bathrooms?

I need a little insight please! I’ll soon be renovating two family upstairs bathrooms at the same time and wondering whether to do the same colour floor and wall tiles in both or whether to make the rooms look completely different?

What would you do?

Either way I will be getting different colour vanities and layout of products is different.

Would love to hear what you’d do!

I’m just about to install two /different layouts but the same style and fittings:colours. Can’t imagine why you’d want them different… Upu can only be in one at a time.

@MrsGuyOfGisbo haha that’s true! Originally I wanted one “kids” bathroom and one more mature styled bathroom - but then realised that they’ll likely not be redecorated for 10 years and my kids will outgrow a more kiddie bathroom.

I guess if people do bathrooms over time they may differ according to their current taste but doing them together makes it harder as I have a preference in taste so why wouldn’t I do them the same! I hope your installs go well!

Thanks @Seaside3 @Londonmummy66

Peoples tastes differ and I’m surprised the previous poster feels so strongly against someone else’s taste. I actually like the hotel look as well as my “arty” look - but I love pops of colour so for me the half tile wins. I appreciate it’s not everyone’s taste.

My DH is a retired bathroom installer, it’s very common to have the same sanitary ware, shower type, wall and floor tiles etc in multiple bathrooms, it certainly helps with costs for tiles etc. The last job he had before he retired was 3 bathrooms, all the same except one had blue strip lighting under the units. The sizes were all different, so they didn’t look identical.

@SunnySideDeepDown I've got artwork in my bathroom. It's all stuff done by people I know too. I like to support people qhere I can, so spending £30/£50 on a print or painting by someone I know is a good way of doing it.
Hell, I even have a windowsill of plants, and a geiaha type figure that was my grans in there too.
Who cares if it's modern or not, I get great joy when I'm sat in my bath, and that's all that matters really.

I agree - I went for the same white metro tiles and grey slate effect floor tiles in both my bathrooms recently. They actually look quite different as one is a shower room styled like this (but with a dark grey floor) https://www.dolphinsolutions.com/en/product/dolphin-crittall-wet-room-screen/

and one has a roll top bath

I quite like the fact that there is a degree of cohesion despite the differences in style between them.

If I were choosing them both then I would absolutely do them very similar in my preferred neutral to warm colour palette.

instead we had DH do the ensuite which he mostly uses (dark mosaic wall and floor tiles , complete absence of visible storage ) and my oasis of calm family bath/shower room with only one (statement ) shower gel on display.

vive la difference
