Tips from small home dwellers to keep things tidy?

Our home is teeny (renting) and there’s virtually no storage space. We have a 5yo and try to keep number of toys reasonable but I find we are getting overwhelmed by laundry (clean and needing to find a home), kitchen stuff (kitchen is tiny), recycling bin always full and nowhere to put things it seems.
Other than a general declutter does anyone have any tips for keeping your small home feeling zen?

How does your landlord feel about attaching things to the wall or ceiling? Could you put up shelves or a laundry rack?

We used kilner jars for things like pasta, cereal etc - felt neater and less cluttered than lots of packets and boxes etc.
Can you get some storage boxes to neaten stuff up?
also be ruthless - what do you actually need? What can you get rid of? try and have the least amount of "stuff" as possible.
Oh and also make sure you keep on top of cleaning and tidying.

The main thing is just to ruthlessly rid your home of everything you can live without. Every single day try to get rid of at least a carrier bag of stuff.

I lived in a 3m2 tiny home for years and in a modest but normal home now. My cupboards are mostly empty! I can't fill the space. You really don't need most things.

Declutter like mad.

If something doesn't have a place to live - get rid. If you actually need it - find it a place to live.

Laundry basket in the bathroom/bedroom wherever suits you best. Wash load every 3 days or when the basket is full whichever comes first. Hang to dry as soon as finished. Fold and put away as soon as dry, freeing the airer ready for the next load.

In the kitchen - cut back on everything. How many cups plates.bowls etc do you actually need?

Use things like this to maximise storage like https://www.argos.co.uk/product/7299199 and https://www.amazon.co.uk/Hanging-Storage-Baskets-Multipurpose-Kitchen/dp/B0CT5XD3YF/

Utilise space on the back of the cupboard doors and the kitchen door. Command hooks on the inside cupboard doors will peel off when you move out.

We stuck a spice rack on the side of a kitchen cupboard and it’s fab for odds and ends (and spice!)

also we make the most of the bathroom! Lots of storage in suckers … I have a hanging travel toiletry bag which has clear compartments and hangs on a hook in the bathroom - keeps all my medical and first aid and cosmetics orderly

Can you take some stuff to a parents house? Like winter coats, bedding your not using, winter boots / wellies etc.

About laundry, although lots of people would disagree with this, tumble most of the clothes. That way you don't need so many, no ironing, and the clothes can be put away as soon as they are dry.

Also, so long as you get a good condenser one it doesn't cost very much to run, especially as the dry heat goes into the room and helps keep warm.
